Basic Intentions

I have all these videos that I have been making but for some reason, I never get around to releasing them on the blog. THis one is about a month old when I was still painting Magilla Gurilla's Angels Encarmine army. I have several battle reports with me getting my ass kicked over and over but everyone has seen that so nothing new or of note.

I think this video is different because of the idea that I have. Check it out and tell me if anyone has done this before!

A Black Templar Commission update: Im almost finished assembling the army and I have already begun painting the terminators!

I've never heard or seen anything like that idea at all Matt, sounds like it could work really well. Have you done much resin work like this before, like with basing or with the clear resin because I'm really interested in the process.

I have never seen any bases like that. I think if you can get it to work it would really make your army stand out. Keep us posted on how it is going!

Well, I'm impressed with the first video I've seen, and that reflection in the phone thing is actually interesting. MAkes you more than a disembodied voice. :p
The frozen lake idea sounds realyl cool, and I've not run into anything similar. I've seen water incorporated into bases but this is a whole other level, I'll be looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

yeah, ive been doing something similar to that with all my tyranids for about 2yrs now.

i get the gw base, glue it to cardboard, cut the top out, fill with mud n shite, then build it up with resin/water effects.

a picture or 2 of it done can be seen here:

Matt, that is a cool idea but may be tough to do.

You are probably going to need to get some circles in the size you want laser cut as the starter. Then do the basic basing/painting of the river bed on the round base, while making sure it will fit into your mold. From there it is going to take several layers of clear resin (i'd suggest not poring more then 1/16th of an inch at time). Make sure each layer completely dries before starting the next or you will likely trap some moisture in between the layers or the surfaces won't dry properly and you will end up with cloudy resin.

Also once done make sure whatever you do on top of the "ice" is at most translucent as to really see the detail in the base you will need to have light be able to pass in from not just the sides but the top too.
