The choice is made!

The choice that I have made is a unit that can be tooled out to deal with a lot of different threats. I choose the CHOSEN!
One of the things tha I have found is htat my army is lacking, is distraction units. I would consider my army an elite army because everything that I take tends to be on the expensive side . WIth no cheap units to provide a distraction, I find the meat and potatoes of my force taking the full force of my opponents wrath.
During any objective mission, I will almost always outflank the chosen. Outflanking is the main reason that I take this unit when jumping up to 2000 pts. That and being able to arm them to the teeth outweighs them being where I need them only 66% of the time. So the wrap up question today is: How do you equip your chosen squad with only 250 points to spend?

You can take 2 squads of 5 chosen with a few meltaguns for under 250. I don't know what your elites are like, and that is 2 killpoints, but they're cheap and scary on the flanks. Also, you can have one squad outflank and one squad actually infiltrate within 12" and possibly get a first turn assault & 2d6 shot.

pardon, meant to type infiltrate AT 12"

Keeping 5 marines out of line of sight isn't that hard.

I think some people overlook havocs potential as an assault unit. Probably because of the devastator steiotype and the models but still, food for thought!

4 Meltaguns and an Aspiring with a Fist and your choice of Icon. Tzeentch or Slaanesh work well with Meltas as Tzeentch makes you more survivable with 5+ inv and Slaanesh makes you Init 5 so you can melt the vehicle and assault what comes out and usually go first.

For anti troop builds I switch the Meltas for Plasmas and go with the Mark of Nurgle, nothing like T5 to limit the number of wounds you take from the average enemy.

Huron BH,
As Jabba once said, "Your my kind of scum." I think that what he said, something along those lines about villiany and vileness. I likey this as well!

why base an army on pyschic powers there always a chance of them failing but i suppose there always a chance of your fearsome 12 attacks on the charge khornate daemon weapon getting double toughed on with a krak missile.i still say getting in abbadon in a LR and dopping a plague sqaud to add a squad of zerkers would be best but thats just an oppinion

If your're looking for a distractionary unit and have chosen Chosen (yay!), you really should consider taking a Greater Daemon too.

The Chosen infiltrate, have a lot of special weapons, as well as the cheapest Aspiring Champion in the Codex. Mix in a Greater Daemon (or rather, the potential threat of one) into this, and you have a distraction the enemy simply cannot ignore in the opening stages of the battle.

Trust me; a Greater Daemon materializing 12" from their lines will get everyone's attention away from your Rhinos ;)

I've tried the Chosen + Greater Daemon tactic, but typically the opponent opts to kill them on turn 1 rather than risk anything further from them. Since they're so close to the enemy it's usually not a difficult task.

Then your greater daemon is stuck possessing a more valuable unit champion elsewhere (unless you run cheap champions across the board). I agree, it does distract the enemy for a turn or two- but to me that distraction is simply too expensive and you're not guaranteed to see the Daemon before turn 5, and by that point the opportunity is long gone.

I prefer my speed-bump units at appx 100-120 pts and packing at least 2 meltaguns ;)
