conflict gt practice vs jawaballs

Black Matt vs. Jawaballs

Jawa is dead wrong about the measuring, but pretty much right on for the rest of the game! My measurements are exact to say the least, even if I don't have enough social grace to get the sportsmanship score after calling someone on it.

What do you guys think about self written missions in tournaments. I like them in general but ones that rely on luck to win deserve criticism!

At work so I can't watch the vids but on the Conflict missions...they are shite!

I'm still looking forward to the game but the potential to screw someone on a single die roll is there. Scattering objectives? scattering terrain? Better be on the good side of lady luck. So the tournament won't be fair but at least we'll get in 5 games in one weekend. yay!

On that second scatter did he roll 3d6? Didn't you say 2d6 in the pregame. Might have made things different....

I was wondering the same thing. The first two rolls were at 3D6 and only the third was 1D6. I think the 2nd roll came out to 13 inches and should have only averaged 7. Not sure if it would have changed the game outcome and doesn't really matter in friendlies except to remember this come tournie time when it could mean the difference between loot and no loot.

Wow. I would not want to play with him again...

Honestly, from the wording, I think if the game ended on Turn 5, the objective wouldn't have scattered.

While there was some bantering back and forth throughout, I'm sure it was mostly friendly. Sometimes the game gets to us, but I wouldn't hold a grudge about.

I agree with Michael Hogan, and absolutely no grudge whatsoever! Its a game and Jawa is a buddy, he just doesnt like to be wrong or beaten! He is a great opponent, make no mistakes!

I wont say much out of fear of this devolving into a public emo nerd rage fest. But in the end, my only intention was to help point out a glaring weakness in Matt's game, his sportsmanship score. I routinely get maximum sportsman, while he, well, gets less than that.

I really didn't mind the measuring, and was putting up a fight out of personal friendship and competitiveness. Incomplete video clips only show a small segment of the discussion. It doesn't appear in Matt's video for some reason, but reading the rule in the mission book solved the discussion in my favor.

My only beef here is why Matt would attack my commissions. Especially since the picture he used of my tank was NOT a commission, but rather a recycled old clunker off my trash heap, hand painted with black because I was out of primer, and painted with a fancy skull. It was painted for my personal army and later sold to some one who truly appreciated it. My commissions are much higher quality than that.

I don't compare myself to others, and instead, I praise the other guys. I know I am not the best painter, not even close, but I happen to be pretty good at painting a narrow focus of things, and for that I charge a lot of money. A surprising number of guys feel the result is worth the cost and happily pay it. Otherwise I am always quick to suggest other commission painters, Matt having been one of them.

I don't see why you need to cut me down man!

Sorry Chris, I didn't think you would take it so personal. I'll take that down. All the clips I have of our game are in there. I'm pretty sure! If this makes you upset, imagine how I feel when you refer to my work as discount, or what I have to say as "silly!" Please don't believe your innocent!

Jawaballs said...

If I called your work discount, it is because that is what it is. You charge a fraction of what you should for the beautiful work you do. Your commissions are easily the equal of some of the other guys top work, and you charge less than half. That is discounting! It is not your work that I call discount, it is your fees. There is a big difference.

None of us are innocent, and all of us are silly.

I just meant to poke you in the jawaballs. I take full responsibility for posting something foolish. This was supposed to be just a stupid battle report with a friend no less. What the hell was I thinking?

Yeah I am not a big fan of randomness in tourney missions, especially when the missions are poorly worded. All they needed to do to fix the issue is have the objective scatter at the beginning of the turn (starting on turn 4) instead of the end or turn 3. There is no difference, and there would be no confusion about the end of the game.

Random missions are not quite right for a tournament where dudes come from all around and give up a weekend to play in.

It might suit a Skaven or Orc unit for lolz, but not a tournament.

I'm with Black Matt on the measuring thing from the Raider. 40K is a game of fractions of inches at certain times. If you stuff up, you stuff up. No sense giving the other dude a lower Sportsmanship score because he didn't say "Well, you missed me, but punch me in the face anyway" :P
Imo, you shouldn't have to bend the rules for incompetence just so you get a good Sports score.
Am I clean, polite, on time, patient, follow what the rule book says even if I thought it was otherwise and get stooged and helpful where warranted? Then I am a good sport.

But then I probably wouldn't get as good a score as someone more accommodating. *shrug*

When I say incompetence, I mean 'incompetence' as it is merely a mistake.
It sounds much harsher than I meant and things in B&W are already hard enough to read feeling from
