Ive put myself into a corner here, one that I am going to have to paint my way out:p. This is the last chance that I have to get a golden ticket for Vegas so I would really like to do well in this upcoming tourney. What should I play, giving consideration to what I have, and whats painted or paintable by the tourney. Im not even sure when it is. lol Beginning of January, that much I do know!

So, I have a really nice elder army, but I can't win with that. Mainly because I am so unpracticed with them that I cant even remember what powers a Farseer has! J/k. Joking, but I literally haven't played them in a year.
A little amount of painting required, I think! A good run at best painted, but that's all the army will have a shot at winning in my hands. My Imperial Fists stand ready with their hands firmly grasping their ankles, knees locked, waiting for some Jawalove! With telion giving his squad stealth or cloaks or whatever, I have 12 points freed up. That would go into chain fists on some termies. The least amount of painting required! I would like to do a glowing effect on all of the power fists though.

I could squeeze another wolf list that would look fair. I doubt I'll do it, but anything is possible! It would require another speed paint, something I really don't wanna do right now!

Dan from http://www.teninchtemplate.com/ suggests that I play the nurgle army that I want to sell. Not incredibly underpowered and some good advertising along with getting it painted and ready to be sold. Not a bad idea, o-Danny boy! Here we are at the nit and the grit, otherwise known as dual lash lovin. This is what I want to play, but it would require a BUILD AND PAINT.! Let me break it down, Harlem style! Harlem, cause that's were I work and were I'm writing this up! This would require a fair amount of work!

That leaves 138 points. I've considered a chosen squad with rhino and a melta. If I did that, I would have to come up some points from somewhere to beef them up, problem with that is I'm pretty thin on squad upgrades as it is. The other options for the 138pts would be squad upgrades. Possession is awesome with lash, maybe another plasma gun or teleport homer.

Who knows? Literally, what do you guys think? Who knows how to help this noob! And dont be a git and tell me to play a different codex.

Good News and Bad News

I contacted the person with whom I have been discussing my next commission, and let him know that I had to back out of painting his Raven Guard. To be honest, I am so burnt from painting. It feels like, and I have been going non stop since before September! I have been going and going and now I am at the point I need a break. I will still be working on some of my own personal stuff as I still have to figure out something for www.theconflictgt.com Im not sure what I will do, but that is another post. Stick around some of you list builders, I will be needing your help!!

When I get back into it, I would like to finish up and sell the Death Guard that I have standing around rotting.

Im just kidding, thats some mentally handicapped chapter Fritz owns! But these sanguinary guard sure look like a bunch of hawk men right now!

I got a lot of things done this weekend. Feels good to be a little back on track. My mood wasnt in the project the last few weeks and when that happens, its just a second job. Its there now and I am making some real quick progress.

The white sanguinary guard was a test model that I did and I left it so that it could be a real pain in my ass later when I have to come back and finish it! LOL just kidding, I left it white to have some comparision shots near the end! It will be a pain in my ass though!

In other news, I made a verbal commitment for my next commissioned army.

Last month I had made a different verbal commitment to do a PRE Heresy Emperor's Children army for a gentlemen who seems to have back out of the deal. I have mixed feelings about this because on one hand, I was anxious about the sheer amount of work that it would take. On the other hand, I was excited about the project and what it would do for my miniature portfolio.

COOL MOVIE

Tron rocked my world! It was everything that I wanted it to be. The plot could have been, "See dick and jane run," for all I care, because I went for the light and music show. Boy, did it deliver. I paid 16.25 for an Imax ticket plus a 20 parking ticket. I went at 1230am in the morning while my wife and child were sleeping and it was worth every penny. The movie theater is awesome and my seat was literally ratteling from the base in the beginning. I think I am just a little more deaf now! WHAT DID YOU SAY!?

Death Co. Freehand

Not much to say, just some freehand to show. What color should I paint the drop on the forehead? Im thinking black to represent the black thirst. Red is out because of there being tom much already!

Warmachine/Hordes should I or shouldnt I?

I picked the Warmachine and Hordes old edition rule books up off of eBay last week. I have been playing around with picking up another system for a while now and when I saw these for only a few dollars, I thought I would take a closer look. I know they are not the current set of rules but I was thinking how dramatically different could the rules be from one edition to the next. It was worth the 10 bucks just to have the opportunity to look through the rule books.

I have decided against it for one overbearing factor. Our game store cant even support 40K, let alone trying to push a different system. They charge full price + 8.5% tax and with so many veterans, no one will pay the extra money. I alone have confronted/talked to them, looking like a total ass, about giving some sort of percentage off, but to no avail.
Anyway, the point I am trying to make is that our store doesn't stock it, and has no incentive to do so. Which means that it simply doesn't exist in our gaming circle.

Is it really worth the trouble and money to play a miniatures combat game that is probably only slightly overall different? Especially when considering all the money and time it will take to get an army and find someplace to play? Go ahead, I dare you and try to convince me!

Angels Encarmine part deuce WIP

Ive been complaining about the white rhino cause I wasnt sure how I was going to do it. I knew that I wouldnt be able to brush it on the way I do the power armour and I didnt think that drybrushing would work. When I spoke with Mags about it, I told him that I thought it would stand out in the army, not in a positive bright white way, but in a non cohesive different style way. My plans where to spray it white than pick out the recesses. I dry paint rub/ drybrush on all the other tanks to get the color fade. Since I was going to spray it pure white, I thought that I would waste a few minutes trying the rub. It turned out really well even though it took A LOT of coats. The pictures dont do these tanks justice, especially this white one. Ive got some awesome freehand planned for Mags, but that is another story!

Eldar army feature, Angels Encarmine Chaplain!

Well not much to say, except that the Wraithlord is doing the Crane kick from Karate Kid and not the curb stomp from American History X. This Eldar army was at the tournament this past weekend over at TOYWIZ but I didnt get the name of the gent who owned it. Speak up boys if you know the name! We needz to givez shout outz where shout outz iz due!

On a commissioned note, what do you think of the chaplain so far. In case I didnt mention it, I have been working on the 2nd half of Magilla Gurilla's Angels Encarmine. Let me say that white Death company are NOT easy. They are giving me some hell. Anyway, what do you think of his Chaplain so far?

Black Templars crusade/ Rules question

I have a rules question that I need some expert internet know how on, and check out this Black Templar Army thats been cleaning up the Best Painting awards lately!

I dont have any pictures of my game against my second opponent, Mike Duffy. He played tau and in the beginning of the game he rolled poorly, allowing me to get close enough to teleport my termies in. Once that happened, the tactical Dreadnaught armour, terminator armour, couldnt be stopped. Good game and I won in the last assault giving me the kill point I needed!

My third game was against Andrew and his Vulkan list. I dont have any pictures and his army wasnt super melta/flamer spam. I think that I am most proud of the way I played in this game. At toywiz they write special missions. In this game, it was capture and control and if either General was killed, it became an additional objective. This is how I planned to win and it almost happened, almost. I teleported Lysander's squad in and separated him from the squad next movement phase in what seemed to be a beserker charge! We both placed our objectives in opposite corners and camped a sizeable force on top of them. There was no way I was going to get to them. My plan was to kill Lysander right in front of my force and take that as my second game winning objective. Everything worked out except I couldnt kill a damn Land raider which contested it in the end. Good Job Andrew.
