Freehand plans a plenty!

 I have been able to spend a little bit of time on my own things since I got some comish work done early and I have been preping to do the freehand work on the Slaanesh Rhino from my Black Legion.  Do you guys remember this pic?

I posted it a WHILE ago about how I plan on using this as my inspiration.  Now this is where you guys come in.  I know that I will do a radial color fade from a light to dark pink, but several questions need to be answered before I pick up the paints.  With freehand, always have a plan, so dont just wing it unless you want to be painting over your mistakes soon.  

The way I look at this image, I see that it has a necessity of three differences or colors.  I have to somehow, separate the skin from the background and then there is of course the black sludge.  So, a different color for the back ground, the sludge or ooze, and the body itself.     

If you look at this nurgle rhino freehand, you can deduce that I first did a color fade from top to bottom and then used black to draw the images on top of that.  I will do a similar technique with the Slaanesh image but the question is, what will be the black image and what is the other color that i should use?   

Should I copy the image as much as possible and have the color fade look like some sort of back lighting?  Should I use the color fade as the body with the ooze as a different color, yellow perhaps?  

Should I use the color fade as the ooze with the body as a different color?

Im interested as to what everyones opinions are on this matter!

Me, Impatient? Nah never!!!

So I am waiting for about 5 Land speeders to show up so I can finish off this Ultramarine commission.  I expect them shortly:)   In the meantime, I went out and bought a box of Sanguinary Guard and put them together this weekend.  I wont say anything that hasn't been said but this is an awesome kit.  I also put together a chaplain since I had nothing to do on Sunday night.  If my client doesn't like it, out it goes! 
 Client?  Yeah I'm taking another stab at the Angels Encarmine for Mags over at www.tabletopwar.net  In my own hubris opinion, this is where I shine.  Planning the construction and painting of whole armies.  I have chosen to turn down some commissions in the past where I was asked to finish off armies because I really want the projects to be mine and also the additional time that it would take to match paint and styles.  Saying that, I have a full painting schedule until after Christmas!

Well like the title states, there is no more drama here, just a progress update on what I did last week.  I have had a very patient client who let me slip in those khorne/space wolves while he waited on his Ultramarine Dreads. I have been looking forward to a blue colored commission as I think they look really good with the color fade that I did!  The pics dont do them justice.
I dont know about anyone else, but I really hate this new editor on blogger as I am finding it difficult to do the things I want.  Im gonna crank out another 5 speeders but he better hurry and get them to me as it looks like I will be revisiting the Angels Encarmine soon.  Look forward to white Death Company and the winged guys! 





Black matt Rants

The video is a little rant that I had after my game with Andy!!!  I made it because after our game I immediately thought about what I was trying to write about last week!

  Any comment that does not deal directly with  a discussion about the virtues or faults of a "flat army list," tournament will be deleted.  I needed the hype before so I stoked the flames of fools, but I will not tolerate bullshit when it does not serve my purpose.  Your comments will be deleted if you say something harsh.  I dont want your criticism so dont, "be honest."

Black Matt vs Stelek!! tournament style!! 2nd game!!!

I very much consider this my real, or better game against stelek!!  In the grudge match, I let the hype get into my head.  I am such a better player than reserving everything against tau.  I choked, but this game is a different!  I went into the game with the an ass beating attitude.  I made two mistakes that cost me this great game.  1)  I advanced my thunderwolf calvary thinking they could kill a scout squad in four rounds of combat.;P  I should of just held them back.  2)  Watch the video and see what cost me the game.  I will be bold and state that Stelek won but he didnt beat me this game.  I beat myself because I had him until I blew it.  I am really glad Andy made the trip and I got to know him in person!

Khorne all 'round

I have been chatting with ctreleheb over at http://theminiaturesideofme.blogspot.com/ and he has shown me some figs I would like everyone to check out.  He has told me that the string used will be replaced with jewelry chain when he gets his hands on some.  I will be showcasing some other figs he has sent over in the next week or two.  I dont have time to do a lengthy write up here the way he deserves because I have to go line the inside of my car with plastic since I will be picking up stelek from the airport before long.  I dont want to get infected with the WAACness he may or may not be spreading;)  Allright, wish me luck everyone and we will see how things go.
