this just goes to show that stupid colors like yellow, purple and orange win best painted in tournaments.Oooo those space marines look like skittles .....BEST PAINTED! WTF I work hard on my realistic weathering and my freehand.
But you dont see me getting best painted...but again I havent enter in any tournaments with my wolves or my orks yet...we will see later.
Rant Comment over!
andrew it was definatly not the collors that won this army best painted. it looked awsome from start to finis blending and smothiness was just outstanding and no offence you would not of come close to best painted at this tourney or any in the near future. the competition is realy stiff and crazy tough.
BC James
James im coming to NY for thanksgiving I will bring my space wolves to the club on Monday my painting skills have gotten better.I still cant blend but im getting better I give it 2-4 years then ill get there
Puff-the-magic-dragon marines...joking. This is good work. and you honestly can't say much about them unless you've seen them in person. I like my 40k world to be a bit darker and grittier but I can definitely see this person has paint-skills. Solid.
Super solid!
Andrew,
Do not bring negativity like that here again! Save that for YouTube or forums or wherever that is liked.
His name's Joe Johnson. He's won a few best painted awards in the past.
It looks like candy. most of the self sculpted icons are a bit to rounded and look to bland because of it. the paint work is great though! blends are very well done and colour scheme is intriguing. Looks very eldar and a little like the order of the sticks ;)
@old shatter hands, when are you going to post on your blog again, i miss the tau tactics :-(.
Matt I dont think I was being negative,I was just pointing out that bright colors get higher paint scores and tend to win best painted more.than greens or black/darker colored armies.
I wasnt trying to be a hater.
as james pointed out the blending and smoothness of the colors brought it over the top.
and blending is more common it seems with reds, yellows, oranges and some brighter blues.right?
I love the orange, but my marines are orange as well. Really well blended excellent use of transition I can see even from matt's pictures this was one well done army.
I know Joe real well and consider him a good buddy. I have seen this army in person many times (actually had to ship it back to the Git once from a tourney in Huntsville and got to look at it in detail). It's truly really awesome. Exceptional blending and colors. He takes HOURS on each figure.
BTW - he's won a couple demons and a crap ton of painting awards - not to mention a GT back in the day.
