sneak peak of BFS tourney terrain

Smack Talk for BFS tourney 09

Here we are the day before hell breaks loose and me with no smack to talk. That just isnt right. Ultrabob is in charge and knows more about who is coming than I do, and I am glad because I have envisioned this tourney as somehow starting friendly grudge matches between the area clubs. So if any of you players think your coming into my house to burn it down, well bring it on! It looks as though I may be able to play in the tourney since some people have bowed out. Welcome to Sparta!!!!!!!!!!!!!

city fight terrain construction

Whenever I build a terrain set I think it through from beginning to end. Not necessarily what things will look like exactly, but I think about storage, theme, durability, playability, and then finally aesthetics. This first pic shows that I knew exactly what sizes would fit into the box that I would eventually use as storage for the terrain set. I like to mount my terrain on this type of pressed/ hard type of particle board that is found at Home Depot. I am blanking on what the board is called. It all starts with knowing what size storage box you will be using.

After you figure what sizes and multiples thereof, cut the board however possible. Make or buy a sanding block and buff the top of the board and the edges clean.

This next step is something that is little more than personal taste, but I like to lay the pieces out in order that way I am going know how much material I will have, and how thin I will have to stretch it in order to hit the target number of pieces.
Glue the pieces of the city fight terrain together using plastic model glue. USE GORILLA GLUE to glue the terrain pieces to the board that its based on. This is an expansive glue so you will need to weight the pieces down while its drying. Dry time is 1-2 hrs. If it is a large piece you will need another large piece of board to place on top. Use house canned goods to weigh it down.
Once the pieces are dry then it is on to flocking and I will let the video explain that!

Dangerous Terrain Tests

Even the most ruthless chaos lords fail dangerous terrain tests every once in a while.

When they go down, they go down screaming! Yeah, it hurt that much.

Mama is serious, so dont forget!

Well Ok that is it, I'm all tapped out. For a few months before I started this blog, I worked on and saved material so that I could release stuff on a regular basis, but now that reserve is a dry well! Its up to you now! I need some suggestions on topics that people would like to see! And don't forget to sign up as a Black Legion Disciple over on the right hand side of the blog!

Just a taste of the level I like to take it to.

Hey guys I know that I am getting away with something easy by posting a video that Fritz has done but this is an example of what level I like to take the my events. I organized this Apoc Battle and I plan on doing the same great job with this tourney. UltraBob is the Chapter Master for this event but he has given me free reign with the terrain. I have been working non stop painting new sets and redoing terrain for this tourney. I hope things are wowed by the terrain at our club.

Emperor Children Sorcerer on Bike

Well I have had a few emails asking about the Emperor's Children and their fair share of the love. Fulgrim is absolutely my favorite Horus Heresay/40K book and was really the inspiration behind this piece. Except for the Emp. Children termie @ the top of the page, I havent painted any other traditional EC figs. I will try and run a battle report with the Emperor's Children crushing my opponent. :p My choices in painting and converting these figs was made with the attempt to create the most gaudy, Donald Trump sort of decoration possible. I painted all the metal in gold with colors that dont match! I hope they make you so sick you cant look away even though it is not finished. ;p

The rise of Nagamo

I got an email the other day from a great guy in Germany who wanted me to take a look at a couple of pics from his army. I told him right away that I wanted to put these pics up for all to see. ANNOUNCING............ Nagamo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good work Nagamo and I hope we get a follow up when they are painted!

terrain night for 09' Battle for Salvation tourney

Here is Ultrabob and I setting up the Eternity Gate. My current state of painting/army construction affairs is in shambles. I have not taken this large of a break from painting since the painting drought of 03'. Seriously, after GW gave me the ol' tournament screw, I havent picked up a brush except to do a s#$! load of terrain work. Its Games Day weekend and so almost everyone is in Baltimore, but Bobby and I have been hard at work. We have painted or repainted almost all of the terrain and boards of our FLGS so that we can use it for the upcoming tourney. This tourney is turning out to be a big success with it being a 40 man event, we already have a small wait list running. It is now up to Bobby and I to make it happen. Fritz is in charge of prize support and I havent heard from him in a while so he has me fretting about it. We will see, he always comes through when he says he will!

Black Legion Converted Defiler

Here I am trying to keep things fresh. This is one of the first Black Legion vehicles that I did. I have almost every option for the defiler on this model. I am only missing the Heavy Bolter and if you want to stretch it, the three heads on top represent that, so ha!
